Very Berry Smoothie!

There is this charity function happening at my Son’s school, so a friend  of mine came up with this idea ,as to why not we mommies participate in this charity function by performing a group dance. I love dancing and the idea of dancing for a charity function sounded even better.
“Dancing Divas” got formed with a bang and then the practice began .This morning when we took a break from the practice,I just thought of treating them with a small healthy drink.
There were some fresh strawberries and blueberries in the fridge. I just whipped up a drink with the berries and banana and an avocado with a dash of low fat milk and maple syrup. Absolutely healthy and refreshing !

Berries are rich in antioxidants which can help improve your health, protect your skin and hair, and prevent certain diseases. Blueberries are one of the best sources of antioxidants, substances that can slow the aging process and reduce cell damage that can lead to cancer.

Strawberries are an excellent source of potassium, fiber, many B vitamins, vitamin C, vitamin K, manganese, iodine, folate, omega-3 fatty acids, magnesium and copper.

The avocado has become an incredibly popular food among health conscious individuals. It is often referred to as a superfood… which is not surprising given its health properties.Avocados are very nutritious and contain a wide variety of nutrients, including 20 different vitamins and minerals.

Let me now give you the recipe of this power packed healthy smoothie!

VERY BERRY SMOOTHIE

Serving Size                                              5 cups

Preparation Time                                    10 mins

Cooking Time                                           5 mins

Total Time                                                  15 mins

Meal Type                                                   Breakfast/Lunch/Evening Snack

Ingredients:

Strawberry                                                  2 cups

Blue Berry                                                    1 cup

Avocado                                                        1 (Ripe)

Banana                                                          1 Medium Size

Low Fat Milk  /Almond Milk                   1/2 cup

Maple Syrup/Honey                                    1 tbsp

Method:

  • In a blender, add the strawberries, blueberries, avocado and banana along with the milk and honey/maple syrup
  • Blend it well and once done, accordingly add extra  milk or honey to adjust the taste.(I used regular low fat milk, but  you can use any milk for this smoothie.I prefer almond milk since it would have given that extra nutrition, but however since I was running short of the same ,used regular milk. The taste will remain the same even if you use any other milk like almond milk, coconut milk, soy milk etc., in case there is someone who is lactose intolerant.)
  • Serve it in a glass immediately or can keep int fridge to chill it and have it later.

Tasty and healthy smoothie ready to drink!
